Almonzo James Wilder, the main character in Farmer Boy, and husband of author Laura Ingalls Wilder, was born February 13, 1857, near Malone, New York. He was the fifth child of James and Angeline Wilder. His family left the farm in Franklin County in 1875 to seek better farmland in Minnesota.
The United States constitution directs that every 10 years, since 1790, the US Government has to count the population.
